Battery Passport Annex XIII Data Fields
Which data fields Annex XIII of the EU Battery Regulation requires — the public tier, the legitimate interest tier and authority access, field by field.
Annex XIII of the EU Battery Regulation defines the data content of the battery passport. The Battery Pass Consortium's mapping identifies roughly 90 mandatory data attributes, distributed across three access tiers.
Public tier fields

The legitimate interest tier
For repairers, remanufacturers, second-life operators and recyclers:
- Detailed material composition
- Disassembly instructions and safety precautions
- Unit-level dynamic data: state of health (SoH), battery status, usage-derived performance

The authority tier
Market surveillance authorities, notified bodies and the Commission have the broadest access, including detailed test results and conformity documentation.
Phasing: which field, when?
Annex XIII does not have to be fully populated on 18 February 2027:

Data models
The Battery Pass Consortium's open data model (canonical RDF/Turtle with generated JSON Schema and OpenAPI) is the de facto reference and aligns with DIN DKE SPEC 99100. Frequently asked questions
Is the carbon footprint field mandatory in 2027?
The methodology delegated act for EV batteries has not been adopted, so the declaration duty slips with it. The field exists in the passport but is populated conditionally.
Will recycled content shares really be public?
Yes — shares for cobalt, lithium, nickel and lead are listed among the publicly accessible fields. See proving recycled content.
What should I request from my cell supplier?
Chemistry, critical raw material content, recycled content and carbon data usually sit with the cell maker; a pack assembler cannot generate them from its own records.
